I admit that some may see this post as self-serving, but i have absolutely no problem with any forum advertising it's host/owners on the pages. Ultimately, this forum exists to benefit SONY media software. If it helps anyone else along the way, that merely makes us happier customers who are more likely to reccomend this software to others.

You'll also note that SONY very politely put the ad at the bottom of the page. That is very commendable.

Yeah, I agree. I have no prroblems with them advertising here. Just as long as they don't start throwing in pop ups!

Pop-ups and rotating adds (including flash adds). Thos drive me nuts and slow down the loading time too much.

If pop-ups still bother you, get the Google toolbar. It's free, and since I've had it, I haven't had any problems with pop-up ads. It also keeps a tally of how many pop-ups it's blocked...mine's up to 1,561.

Speaking of pop-ups, it looks like some new advertiser-sponsored studies are showing that pop-ups are actually negative enticement. Seeing a pop-up ad more often than not encourages people to avoid whatever is being advertised. Several large advertisers are considering abandoning pop-ups because of this.

I use Netscape 7 wich has a pop-up filter in it. :) No problems so far!

At least Sony's not as bad as the DMN forums site.

My thoughts exactly.

Hey...it's their (Sony's) page.

ab-so-lutely This is by far one of the best forums I've ever visited...clean, fast, well organized, great search engine, TONS of information, etc, etc, etc.

In this day and age, getting software support can be next to impossible. Having a medium like these forums is invaluable. If there's an ad from Sony here and it bothers you -- I think you outa let that go! That's just b*tching for the sake of b*tching! Make music! Rock on.
TomG wrote on 2/27/2004, 5:52 AM
Hey, I'm not b*tching..... I'm just making an observation, and I'm sure everyone here has seen the other extreme when advertisements totally obscure the messages.

Sure I recognize that Sony has the right to advertise on their own board, but believe me, they are getting great reviews on this product just by the comments. I just hope the "creep" doesn't become an "avalanche"!!!!

It's quite discreet.
It's a free service.
It's their website.

The only thing to complain about is that it applies to US residents only.
