just some questions ,thanks.
I using a gateway laptop (512 mb 60 gb 2.0 ghz.p4)-tascam us-428 sound ,controller device and all generic drives..
1) does it matter which file format (mpeg2 ,avi, quicktime, etc)you use when editing in vegas5?or is the final render all that matters? I'm aware of the advantages of higer sample rates or bits when working in audio does the same apply for video,,,

2) anyone run thier videos live off a laptop on to a 3-5 foot screen? if so what do you reccommend and how do you have it set up? I've had and have been getting requests from clients to run a show for them ,,I have the music side of things under control ,,,,, still learning about the specs with video,,,Thanks,,,,,,, not looking for all the answers just need some direction,,,,,

Vegas is made for editing .AVI files, so I'd stick to those. After you edit, then you can render to MPEG-2 or whatever....but only edit AVI's

You'll need some projection system to project your video............Wether you do it from your laptop or a set-top DVD player is arbitrary once you have the projector.

It depends on your budget, but this is an example....you should research what you want out of a projector, and then choose one.
