Advice for Teacher in High School

I friend of mine has been teaching film and movie skills in a nearby High School for years using conventional film methods. (not digital) After seeing some of my work using Vegas, she has convinced the school to purchase a new computer and Vegas 5.0 + DVD, training videos and a new DV camera.

What advice would you have for her? I only do this as a hobby for friends and family, she needs professional advice.

I'm going to be doing this in a new film-based charter high school as well. We'll teach editing on Vegas but have HD Avid and FCP suites as well by the first of next year.

The only difference is learning new software. Every editing technique can be taught with Vegas and for ease of use, it's the best.

What specifically are you needing help with. Unless they're editing for matchback to film, there's nothing that Vegas won't do for them.

Happy to talk offline as well. We're expounding on our state's core for filmmaking and having a lot of fun. chenopup@covad.net
