I have a question how do you use a video from vv4 in after effects/ I can import the video into AE but the effects won't work on a VV4 file. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
You import the avi into AE, you do your thing, you render it, then you bring the file into Vegas. You cant bring a veg file into AE--you must bring the native avi file in. Also, if you want to bring an AVI file into AE that has Vegas created FX on it, you need to render it in Vegas before bringing it into AE.
I believe the Frameserver from Satish will move files between these two with effects intact. Do a search on user name Satish, go to his website and download the Frameserver for free..

Just to back up what the others have said here - I use AE and VV. you can either export out of VV and than bring that file into AE or you can frameserve from VV direct to AE. Either way works fine, I have done both.
It sounds like you are trying to bring a VV project file into VV which will not work. On the other hand you say you can "import the video" however the effects will not work. Do you mean the effects in AE will not work on the video or do you mean the effects from VV are not exporting? On the AE side you need to make sure that the effects are turned on for the render. By default they are, if they are "on" in the project. When you add the project to the render there are settings you can change. One of them is for the effects - make sure it is set to "all on" unless you have some reason for not having them "all on".
