After recent MS Patch, 9.0c will not launch

This past weekend IT ran a Microsoft patch.

Now Vegas 9.0c will not fully launch. The splash screen gets to the point where it says it's installing Direct-X plugins, then the splash goes away and nothing loads. Vegas in not listed in Task Manager.

Vegas 8.0c loads fine.

This is a problem as 8 will not open 9 timelines.

please explain more fully. my office pc is auto patched and still runs 9 happily?

(my editing pc isn't connected to the net)

Back in my government and corporate days, I always insisted my edit machines were NOT under control of the IT people. In fact, when I purchased the systems they were always listed on inventory as "Video Equipment" instead of computer equipment. Laptops were another story though.

On two systems, one with Win-XP Home/SP2 and one with Win-XP Pro/SP3, with all patches up to date, 9.0c has no issues launching.

I agree that all real MS patches don't break 9.0c. My system at home is fine.

I'm simply reporting that whatever our glorious IT group did here at work with the last MS patch has stopped 9.0c from launching...but not 8.0c.

Next step is to attempt to re-install and keep fingers crossed.
