Are there any good plugs that could be suggested?
Our studio is looking into this for the obvious
reasons;alot of work will be coming down the pipe.We
allready have some clients asking !!
WOW.
I use my Yamaha 03D for doing 5.1. I use direct outs from my audio
card and only use vegas as a recorder and editor. I also have a
plugin called "PanHandler" by Kelly Industries. It does surround
panning encoding, the version I have doesn't do 5.1 surround though,
but it is an older version, so there may be an update. Here's there
web address. www.kellyindustries.com. Other than that, I can tell
you that Saw Pro has 5.1 and so does Nuendo and Pro Tools.

I'm wondering about encoding 6 tracks to an AC3 file (compressed
format for 5.1) Do any of the products mentioned here (saw or nuendo
or PT have an encoder product)I think SF has one, but I'm interested
in a product that has the editing capabilities as well as an encoder.
Is there such a beast?

Hey george,Brian's idea of visiting www.kellyindustries.com has a
link to minnetoka software, but I cannot seem to find the encoder from
sonic foundry.Did they kill it?Hmmm.....

Uh, it looks like it's gone (SF's encoder). The minnetonka software
solves a lot of problems for me (encoding and mixing tools for 5.1)
but as far as I can see, it's geared for the DSP Factory from Yamaha.
I wonder if there's another product out there that handles mixing and
encoding for 5.1 with AC# compression.???
