@Art-Munson It's hard to know why you're having problems, is it your Intel Arc or Smart Mask 2.0, 🤷♂️
Smart Mask 2.0 is a long way from being correct, it isn't even at the BETA stage as far as I'm concerned, Analyse only takes moments so not sure why you're having problems, but Complete masking can take a long time & put heavy demands on the most powerful of PCs on this forum, eg. 10mins to create masks for an 8sec clip 😒, some with lesser machines reported hrs. & even after all that there's no masks created that can be corrected.
This FX shouldn't have been included & most def shouldn't be advertised as a working fx.
@Art-Munson I might have sounded a bit unfair, I do still think this fx shouldn't have been released yet but it does sort of work, Like I say i don't know why you're having problems, maybe it'll never work on your PC for some reason & I'd hate to think what it would be like on a lesser machine than mine, (specs in Signature). So maybe don't give up on it yet...
Is your project the same size as your media? Most masking effects need this to be so, Pan/Crop can be set to 'Match Out Aspect',
Here I used a 10second 640x480 clip on a 1080x1920 project, 11mins to create the mask, Match Out Aspect chosen in Pan/Crop but I got a keyframe wrong at the start, that's my fault, I left that in this video just to show why there was a problem,
See how the screen goes black for a moment when analysing, this could maybe crash other's programs🤷♂️
@Gid So sorry for the late reply, I got sidetracked with other projects. Thank you for the very informative video. I will study the video and work on this some more. My output aspect is set correctly.
I much appreciate the time you have spent on this!
My oh my. Reading through some other threads someone mentioned turning off the GPU for a bug free 315. That prevented the crash. It's a start so I will see where this leads me.
Played around with this some more. Got it to work by disabling the GPU but a 6 second clip was going to take 30 minutes so I bailed. Definitely not workable for me on my system.

100% agreed. 10 second clip gives ETA of nearly 40 minutes. Looks like I won't be using AI SM 2.0.
For what it's worth, Smart Mask 2.0 is crashing on me as well in Vegas Pro 22 (248). Auto-analyze just flickers incessantly. Disabling it and manually analyzing causes an almost instantaneous crash... and that's with or without the GPU (in my case an NVIDIA RTX 3090, Game Ready Driver 576.28) selected as the Decoder in File I/O settings.
Hi, after analyse frame, track backwards & forwards, then Complete Masking, you might have to tick/untick Analyze Current Frame to get this to highlight or move the cursor to the orig keyframe 🤷♂️, After masks are done which can take a while there's no adjustment, ie there's no bezier masks created that can be improved upon.. I played with this again a short while ago, with some clips the small Analyze window that pops up just flashes, I never fully understood whether the media needed to be a certain AR or if it needed to match the project (or Pan/Crop - Match Output Aspect) & to be honest I eventually gave up.
PS. it worked well/ok on about 10-20% of the clips I tried, the rest were just crap.
I used it recently to show a friend something. The object tracked didn't have much to make it stand out. It tracked fine. I used it as a mask. I added an effect to the mask, and rendered it out. Now, that is where it took quite a while for a 45 second clip to render out (1080). Almost 15 minutes.
I did this quickly, so really didn't refine the feathering, etc.. It was more of a demonstration of what I was saying to my South African Vegas user what I was talking about.
Seems to be working OK on my H264 Sony AVCS but not the clips from my iPhone HEVC portrait view where it just flickers. Also works with latest game driver (Nvidia) 576.28. I did have a crash initially after installing the new driver (VCRuntime140.dll) but this has not happened since restarting PC following the driver install.
