AI Speech To Text analyzes, then goes back to 0% and don't start again

Hi.

I'm currently having an issue with the AI Speech to text.

So for the record, it's always been working till today.

Whenever I analyze the text, it goes up to around 10% and then it goes back to 0.2% and freezes there and doesn't move up any percentage - Vegas doesn't freeze though.

I've tried and none of it worked:

  • Restarting Vegas,
  • CTRL+Shift+Click Vegas to reset settings,
  • Splitting up the audio in different pieces incase it was to long for it to analyze (it's just 3 minutes by the way),

I have the latest version of Vegas, 22.0 build 250.

Running Windows 11 Home, and my pc specs is:

GeForce RTX 5080

AMD Ryzen 9 9900X

32 GB DDR5 RAM

2TB NVMe SSD

Thank you in advance!

All the hub features have been intermittent or non working for a few days now, connected with the Microsoft azure failure.

Food for thought if this mess does not get straightened out in a timely fashion and/or you need reliable subtitles NOW! I may have to go this route soon, as found on another thread in this Forum...:

Try Auto Captions for VEGAS Pro. 15 days free Trial evaluation.

FWIW AutoCaptions is excellent and fast if you have an NVIDIA GPU.

.and I do, Roger! Seriously considering testing and then going with this app, as I cannot wait forever for Magix to "fix" whatever it is they need to fix and haven't a clue where on the priority list it is for them! I assume that you now are using Auto Captions for VEGAS Pro...and if so, do you HIGHLY recommend it (over VP's built-in web-based AI that really is only around 75% accurate??)!!

The Magix team did figure out the issue is with Microsoft and affects more than just VEGAS Hub but it's still not fixed.

For me, I moved to OpenAI Whisper a while ago as I'd rather do transcriptions locally and it's more accurate. I was doing this command line and then through Subtitle Edit. Now I'm doing it with AutoCaptions which is a better implementation than through SubtitleEdit. Do the trial to see if it works for you but I use the large v2 models and crunch through an hour or more of interview in <10 min locally. I still do some cleanup of the srt files in SubtitleEdit and then import the fixed one into VEGAS. Overall it's quite good for English and usable for Japanese.

Thank you all for answering! I'll look into AutoCaptions.

I ended up reaching out to Vegas, they're aware of the problem as you guys told me - but they don't want to give a timeframe as when it starts to work again. Just incase someone wanders of on the same issue as me and finds this post.

AutoCaptions may no longer be available for sale but the underlying Whisper engine is still integrated into software including SubtitleEdit and that's completely free: https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit/ Just go to FasterWhisper and download one or more models to get started.
