All of a sudden, Renders Crash

I've been using VP11 (now Build 700 32-bit) almost since it was released and have recently finished the first part of my latest project: video from a month-long USA trip.

Apart from the occasional glitch, I have not had any problems rendering out to Main Concept MPEG 2 HDV. Until now. And now it has become nightmarish.

Most of my material is from my Canon HV30 with some scenes taken on my Canon SX30 or Canon ELPH300HS (also HD). (I have previously used the HV30 camcorder but the two "still cameras" are new-ish).

The edited video has an additional soundtrack with music from ITUNES.

The renders keep crashing out in various places (but often the same places). Sometimes the program crashes but more often I get a render "unknown error" message Looking at the partial renders, I cannot see any reason for the crashes. I have tried pre-rendering those sequences as a loop and using the render instead. But then it crashes elsewhere.

I have tried everything I can think of. Turning acceleration on and off (NVIDIA), rendering audio and video separately (eventually I did manage to get a complete render in this way), copying all the scenes into a new project, reinstalling Vegas.

In between trying to get the first volume to render, I have now almost finished editing the 2nd volume of the project. I tried a test render on this and that too is crashing. This is driving me insane.

Please, please, any ideas on what I can try next to resolve this?

Edit> Some further clues/thoughts?

My one and only NewBlue Pro Title is failing to render. The underlying graphic is there but no title. I can preview it OK (but not if I go above Preview-Auto quality in the preview window.)

Something I had not noticed before, but perhaps it's always happened:- despite the preview window being set as above, when the render is happening, the preview goes into Good-Auto mode. In that mode I cannot preview the New Blue title. It never crashes there, by the way, just does not render it..
