alpha channel program

Hi all,

I'm loving Vegas editing! For graphics, I use Photoshop Elements, and I don't THINK I can make alpha channels in it, unlike the regular version. Does anybody know of a program (inexpensive, like free download, etc.) that will do this? All I want is to be able to import graphics of logos, etc. into Vegas that are not square.

Thanks!

Try filling the background with a solid color that does not appear anywhere into the logo. You can then use Vegas' chroma keyer effect to make that color transparent.

hey, that's a good idea... I also think I found a program I'm looking for at gimp.com

Gimp can handle alpha channels very well. I am exclusively using Gimp as image manipulation software as it has all the features that I need.

That's good to hear! I haven't downloaded that yet, but I just tried the chroma key method and it's very clean!

Try using Elements creating your files starting with a transparent background, adding your graphics as layers and saving as PNG. They key great in Vegas, as they retain the transparency just fine.
