Alpha masking track issue with dodge composite

How is it that an Alpha mask track will not mask a dodge composite. I normally use the artwork “lazy way” as an alpha mask this is ok but not when composited with a dodge composite

I am still using Vegas 10  for my projects so this may have changed in newer versions of Vegas.  So if I want to dodge a layer I have to make the artwork match the mask perfectly….and because I am a lazy mutt this is an issue.

Don’t understand why? Why?  the mask will have bleed when the alpha channel is 0 “zero” this tells me it should mask the entire parent track.

the answer i think could be if an effect is applied to artwork that is masked then if the artwork bleeds beyond the mask the effect will run over the entire artwork and the mask will not mask out the effect = therefor black bleed Here is another example the artwork for the dodge has an effect applied. so i have a red and green arrow used as a mask with the same artwork with tv sim effect = artwork masking elements all match. so no bleed but i also have a mask for the video track which does not match but no effect has been applied to the scratches etc which are dodged composite direct on the video track. this is the the only aspect i can put it down to.

Any chance to share a simple structured demo project (including media) which demonstrates the issue?
