Alternative to CD-A

What is the 'next best' CD Mastering solution ?

What other programs allow the same degree of flexibility
and control ?

I've looked at several (including WaveLab, Nero 5.5), but
I'm a little hesitant to drop $500 for software that won't
measure up to what I'm used in CD-A. However, I don't want
to remain hostage to CD-A's supported device list, either.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately to my knowledge there is not another
application on the market that provides the wave editing
flexibility that CD Arch does (i.e. crossfades, volume
evelopes, non destructive editing). However there are
other applications do allow you to edit the PQ. One that
comes to mind is Red Roaster by Sek'd.

Use ATAPI MMC Compatible. This almost always works with
decent modern drives.
