Alternative to Waves Mercury Bundle?

Hi All,

I have been using Waves Mercury Bundle (32-bit) for several years in conjunction with Sony Vegas Pro. In March (next month) it appears Waves is finally releasing a 64-bit version. Before I dig into my wallet I wanted to ask if you all could recommend any good alternative 64-bit audio VST/FX bundles that work well with Vegas Pro?

I use Vegas for all of my video and audio projects. I find the DAW interface to be one of the better editing environments out there. Waves Mercury Bundle has been a great add-on to have, but wanted to find out from this community if there are some better/equal/worthwhile alternatives for 64-bits?

Thanks!

Similar situation to you. Unfortunately I recently lost all my old instances in old projects when upgrading to Waves7 (VST) from V5 (DX) which won't coexist ;-( . The plugin names didn't carry the actual plugins across from the original versions .

But I see little benefit in running audio projects in 64-bit. Vegas 32-bit runs fine for me in W7-64.

I guess eventually 32 bits will eventually be 'legacy', but not for a while, I guess. So we will need to move, eventually.

I think for me the bigger issue is that 64-bit computing has been around for several years now. We all spend good money on our multimedia computers so they can handle more video tracks and effects and render large video projects more quickly, but are still relegated to living in a 32-bit environment based on our choice of audio plug-ins. Even in a video environment, I still use the same audio tools as I would on an audio-only project. When something works really really well - why change it? Thus I am stuck in a 32-bit environment for audio and video. Vegas Pro is IMHO the best editing software for video and with the right plug-ins/VSTs/FX...etc. is a top notch competitor for audio editing. I do not think the audio plug-ins that come with it are as good as they could/should be - and am hoping to hear some suggestions for a nice set of 64-bit audio plug-ins that will allow me to bust out of this 32-bit jail cell. :)

Concussion,

Two thoughts. First, have you looked at jbridge? It is a very inexpensive utility that will allow you to run your 32 bit plugs with 64 bit Vegas. You can demo it and it's only like $20 or something like that.

Second, if you've gotten used to the sound and interface of the Waves plugs I've found it's hard to move to anything else. But that's just my experience.

Vegas 64 bit allows the use of 32 bit VSTs. That is, Vegas has a "bridge" built in.

Only yesterday did I discover the bridging function on my own. In x64 Vegas I identified a few other VST folders and it brought in all of my Waves Plug-ins. I thought it was an error - but they worked!
