AMD Accelerated Encoder Beta Plug-in for VMS9

I just ran across this. Apparently AMD has created a plugin for accelerating MPEG-2 and H.264 encoding in Vegas Movie Studio 9.

You'll need an AMD CPU and ATI GPU to use it. I haven't tried it myself as I have an Intel CPU.

Release notes are dated September 2009, so I guess the uptake on this plug-in is slow! Same boat as you, don't have an AMD CPU to test on, but this is an interesting development that AMD would produce this plug-in rather than SCS.

I'm guessing AMD was worried about all the nVidia CUDA applications out there and threw this together to prove that Stream is as good as CUDA.

IMHO, CUDA and Stream need to go away, just like Glide did - it's not needed now that there is an open standard (OpenCL).
