An error has occurred??

"an error occurred when opening the media file" is what I get this morning when opening a project I finished last night. It specifies the MP3 I used to score the video and asks if I want to:

Specify a replacement media file

Ignore error and leave media file offline

Ignore this an all subsequent errors

This is the 2nd time this has happened. The first time I believe I chose option #2 and then could no longer import MP3s, having to reinstall Vegas. Could someone tell me A) what's going on here and B) which option to choose? What to do?

Thanks!

I posted on here a few days ago with a very similar issue. I completed a project successfully but got thes same errors when re-opening it - except my problem was with MXF files. Between saving and re-opening I installed Swish Video and a Flash codec. I also use Vista 64. The only way I could fix this was to uninstall and reinstall Vegas.

Seems like quite a pain in the arse if this is the case every time we use an MP3 (which would most likely be EVERY time)..eh?

Sheesh.

No fixes? Patches? C'mon Sony! I paid $600 for this software, can I use it please?

There must be another answer... This worked fine in 8.1...

I have the same issue, and have uninstalled and reinstalled 9.0. I have AVCHD files from 2 different cameras (my Canon and a Sony) and get the same issue with both.

I should note that it did work once, and I managed to create a .veg with the files in it, but now it won't load - ever. The files play fine in Nero ShowTime, so I know it's not that... And I tried deleting my temp files just in case, but no joy. Of course, once it worked in 9.0, I uininstalled my 8.1 install... Big dummy...

Since I know that a reinstall doesn't fix this, does anyone have any other ideas?

Someone in another forum suggested turning the MP3 into a WAV file first. Annoying, but we'll see.

I did reinstall Pro 9 this morning and was back up with the MP3 in place so that I could render. All was fine. But of course, no one wants to reinstall their software every day.

It seems that when the Cannot find file message appears then just say ignore all, close Vegas and open it again - this time it mostly finds the media.

And yes: for this and other seemingly simple and repeating issues an update would have been nice - a month ago :-)
