AN ERROR OCCURED DURING THE OPERATION

So Im stuck with this error! When I add mulitple videos into Vegas., It adds the files in when I add them singularly but after a couple of files it comes up with the error again and crashes. It seems like Vegas gets tired and crashes. This happens when I drag files in, and when ever I import the directly the dialog box crashes, and so does Vegas. I don't think it's my PC as I have 4GB Ram behind it and a decent Graphics card.

The error is:

"AN ERROR OCCURED DURING THE OPERATION

AN EXCEPTION HAS OCCURED."

I've seen many people posting this problem on other sites but no legitimate Answers. Any help is appreciated so much!

Yes, this is to be expected with Vegas (at least with a pre-10 version). When you put multiple MP4 or MOV files in the media bin (especially h.264 or MPEG4-SP), it'd crash. This is why we use either proxy files, or we transcode to an intermediate format to use such files with Vegas.

Upgrade to vs10!

Hi there,

same problem in version 10 too (like before in version 9):

when importing 25 or more full-hd mov-clips from canon powershot sx1is (same format als EOS 550D) VMS 10 crashes with following report: (in german)

"Beschreibung:

(In cause of a problem the program can't communicate with windows anymore....)

I hoped, this problem of vms 9 would be solved in ver. 10, but it isn't.

So I will use an intermediate format to use such files in VMS 10 again like before.

Waiting for a patch,

Knupa

I have this same problem. Can you enlighten me regarding proxy files - what does that mean? Transcoding I get - is there a particular way to transcode that is recommended?
