"An error occured while saving project file"

I am using Vegas Pro 17.0

Whenever I try to "Save" or "Save As" I get the following error: "An error occured while saving project file. The file could not be created"
I'm posting here because I already tried every solution I could find on the internet.
What I tried:
Checking if I have a temp folder in Appdata/Local.
Disabling folder security.
Checking for windows updates (of which there is one called KB5034441 but that hasn't been able to install and just throws the error 0x80070643 since January and I've used Vegas flawlessly prior and after that).
Restarting my PC.
Saving to different drives (both HDDs and SSDs).
Scanning for malware using Windows Defender.

OS: Win10 Pro 64-bit

Are you running Vegas as a Windows Administrator?

Checking for windows updates (of which there is one called KB5034441 but that hasn't been able to install and just throws the error 0x80070643 since January and I've used Vegas flawlessly prior and after that).

This is concerning. Failed Windows Updates are not that uncommon, and this one is a bad actor. I remember it. I can't guarantee it is the cause of your problem with Vegas, but getting it off your system should still be a priority.

I believe I just loaded a recent backup image; if you don't have one you may need to reinstall Windows, and now is a good time to start making bimonthly backups.

I tried running it as administrator and it worked! Can't import media by dragging and dropping though which is a bit annoying but I guess I'll have to put up with it.

Regarding the windows error, you mean I should try to remove that update off my system?
From what I gather it's only necessary if you have drives with BitLocker on.

Glad that worked!

Without a system rollback, getting rid of a borked update if the uninstall routine fails is worse than a case of bedbugs. I wouldn't attempt a manual purge. If it's not causing other security problems, you could leave it on your system and Microsoft will do a major Win 10 update maybe in August, which will make a multitude of past fubars vanish (hopefully).
