An Error Occurred While Creating a proxy for a str

I've been using Vegas for 8 years now since 3.0. This is the first time I have encountered an error message:

"An Error Occurred While Creating a Proxy for a Stream.... The File Could Not Be Created"

What have I noticed is that in the audio stream it states "Peaks Not Available" but I can hear the audio when I'm editing or rendering.

I also notice that I am getting a few video "jerking motions" after I do my final rendering. I don't see this during editing, even when I selectively render in the areas where I observed this in the final render.

Not sure if these two problems are related.

Anyone know what causes this message? I'm using 10.0d, have plenty of disk space, no known system problems.

Any advice, suggestions would be appreciated.

Delete the sfap0 and sfk files associated with the project and try again.

Thanks, MusicVid

Interesting. I removed all the .sfk and didn't have .sfap0 files. Cranked up Vegas and got the same error message but it was building the peaks. Shut down and restarted and it started up OK..!?!?

Is this something others are experiencing? What causes this and will it begin happening more frequently?

Happens occasionally with audio proxies, in all versions of Vegas going back to 2.0.

Occasionally this happen for me when working with wmv files. I read that some curtain mediafiles isn't as great for editing.

Make sure you have enough free space on your drive to create proxy files.

Why does that matter? If it helps someone then that's a good thing right?
