The playback device Modem #0 Line Playback does not exist."
Suddenly I'm getting this error when trying to play an .avi or an .mpg (that I created in V4).
Any thoughts?
TIA,
Randy

Go to Options - Preferences and change your audio device. You're trying to play the audio through your modem.

Thanks Jet, I had enough sense to check my video device but not my audio device. Anyway, now when I select my only other option, Windows Sound Mapper, it gives the error, "the device specified is in use...The playback device Microsoft Sound Mapper does not exist" (and the Windows Classic Driver only lists the modems). FWIW it worked fine before removing my Delta 1010 sound card.
Thanks again Jet,
Randy

Sorry to be a pest but does anyone think it would help to uninstall/re-install V4 after reading the post above?
Thanks,
Randy

I think it would help to put your audio card back in. Apparently it can't find a valid audio card. Maybe a different audio driver needs to be installed? I really don't think this is a Vegas issue but, rather, a system issue.

Thanks for all your help Jet; as it turns out an uninstall/reinstall of the sound card did the trick. I would have never guessed that it was audio related Jet.
Thanks again,
Randy

Sorry if I'm being a pest but I'm getting the same error after a reboot(and the sound card doesn't show up under audio device in V4 but WMP plays fine). If I uninstall/reinstall the sound card drivers it shows up again and plays fine but as soon as I reboot they're gone again. Any thoughts?
TIA,
Randy

That last one is sort of weired.

You could try to uninstall / reinstall VV at this point. Couldn't hurt - and maybe it could help.

Thanks Kameron but I already did with no results.
Thanks again though,
Randy

Download the latest M-Audio Drivers (.29 I believe)and use the UNINSTALLER that is in the download first before you install the new driver.

Also,
Windows XP should be installed in Standard Mode for best compatibility with that soundcard. In other words you need to disable ACPI.
The card needs it's own IRQ as well.

Thanks John but I need the Delta 1010 in another machine; I'm trying to use the cheap card on the MoBo for this PC. BTW, I did go ahead and use the uninstaller to clean the Delta off just in case it had anything to do with V4 being confused.
Thanks again,
Randy
