An unusual software question, I'm sure

OK...I moved from a pc to a mac. One of my favorite pieces of software was Vegas Movie Studio, but it's not compatible with mac. I am running parallels so that I can run some windows-based software. I have 2 questions: Does anyone know if there is something comparable to VMS for mac (Final Cut is so video focused that I find it very frustrating), and does anyone know if VMS will work on a mac using parallels?

Thank you...

It's a bad practice to run a video editor, which is very heavy software, via an emulation or virtualization method. Either install a native Windows partition on your Mac, or don't bother with Vegas.

On the Mac, there's a new Final Cut Express version coming this Spring. If you don't like FCE, since it looks a lot like FCP, the only other capable and cheap video editor is Premiere Elements 9. Just make sure it's version 9 or above, so it has the h.264 optimizations, and 24p support.

I do have the full version of Windows 7. It runs via Parallels when I am loading a piece of windows software. But I've never tried anything that powerful. I'm just very frustrated with FCE, since I've really been a VMS user.

In that case create a partition for Win7, don't use Parallels. You will put a lot of strain to the software to try to run under virtualization.

Many pro users are running Vegas successfully under Bootcamp. Don't know what the 64 bit issues are there, but a forum search should help enlighten.

This is what I suggested too. Bootcamp is not emulation/virtualization like VMware/Parallels, it's a true Windows partition. This indeed works better because it's 100% Windows native.
