An update from my experience

I have a small computer in the "family room" that we use for e-mail. It has an average graphics card (ATI Radeon 2400) but it's a Core Duo. It has 4 gig of RAM.

I installed Vegas 9 on that system and it runs without any latency issues at all. The preview is perfectly smooth even on some of my more complext effects. It stays at 29.97 fps for most everything.

Neither of my "editing" systems are Core Duo.

Is anyone else who is eperiencing latency or choppiness running on Core Duo systems?

my wife's core 2 gets some hickups during preview. it's a laptop & when I apply a lot of FX is starts to stutter.

Thanks.

What graphics card does hers have?

some integrated intel. The GPU doesn't effect vegas in any way. some 3rd party plugins use it but not vegas itself.

Thanks. I was trying to see if there is a relationship to the stuttering and NVIDIA graphics cards.

Good luck.
