way2slo,

I'm not familiar with the pinnacle device, but I know of two other choices for you:

1. iMic from Griffin Technologies, $35 USD, has mini connector for line/mic input

2. UA-1 from Edirol, $70 USD, has RCA conectors for line input only

Cheers,

way2slo,

Note that the devices I mention above are for analog AUDIO capture only.

Looking at the linked pinnacle page, it is a dual use device, video/audio.

Cheers,

I would strongly advise to stay away from ANYTHING Pinnacle!!!

This is based on months of experience, frustration, and failure. Also, I had a substantial investment in Pinnacle products.

I would not use their software, hardware, anything.

Since moving to Vegas + DVD with a ADVC-100, I have been able to actually concentrate on content creation; not if the system/program will work right.

I would not use any single thing with the Pinncale name on it.

If you do not have the money for the Canopus ADVC-100, which is understandable, I would take the extra time and save up for it.

Patience can yield a very, very good video editing system, which I now have. It will be worth the wait.

i second that, if you cant afford the ADVC-100...then just save for it.

actually theres an ADVC-50 which is cheaper... and just as good, just doesnt have the reverse-back output to a monitor feature. If all you want is to get your analog video in via firewire, the ADVC-50 will be more than enough. :)
