I use the DVMC and it works for me. I too have a lot of VHS tapes. I haven't touched the other equipment.

I converted all of my old VHS tapes using the Dazzle DVC. I was happy with the video quality and especially the customer support. I've seen old VHS video that was digitized with the Sony DVC and it was equally impressive. I'm not familiar with your first choice.

According to DSE on the COW Vegas Forum there are some issues with the ADVC-100 and Vegas Video 3.0. It appears that videos captured thru the ADVC-100 will slow down editing in Vegas for some reason. You may want to go to that forum and do some reading.

Look for the topic heading "Confused: Pyro OHCI + ADVC-100 and Vegas Video 3."

I got an ADVC-100 last week and have done some testing of it. I have also read DSE comments, but don't totally understand what he is saying.
I have used it so far to capture analog video into VV3 and to drive an external monitor, I haven't outputted to tape yet but expect it to be the same as the external monitor.
I did not notice any difference in performance on the external monitor when playing video I imported from a Video 8 source or from analog sources inputted with the ADVC-100.
I plan to do some more testing to try to understand what DSE is trying to explain.
