Analogue to DVD

I want to convert all my old Hi8 tapes to DVD. Which would be the better option, a Digital 8 camera, or an ADVC100? I am leaning towards a camera, because I can recoup some hard earned cash by re-selling it when I'm done, but I believe there are some D8 cameras that don't have DV out. Could someone please advise which models are OK? Alternatively, what would an ADVC100 be useful for when all my conversions are finished? Thanks.

I'd go with the ADVC-100, for one it's cheaper, and I'd bet you'd be able to sell it for maybe slightly less than what you purchased it for. They are a pretty hot item for DV editors and if someone can get one for even $20 less than the list price they will take it. Also running old 8MM tapes through a D8 camera will most likely really clog up the heads and possibly damage them. We have a Sony D8 camera and when we try to play old 8MM and Hi8 tapes through it most of the time they won't even give us a picture.
