Sadly, is you do a google on NXCAM, you also find NXCAM.COM, which is a P0RN site (careful) that says has been in use for over 4 years. I believe that Sony has made an unfortunate name selection.

NSFW: I stumbled onto www.nxcam.com last night as well.

Just so people are clearly warned, nxcam.com is a porn site and not-safe-for-work!

(We don't want any Sony camera enthusiasts to get fired...)

I was just hoping that any new pro camcorders would be based on the DSLRs that can do video, with interchangeable standard lenses and either a full frame or a reasonably large sensor. I guess this is too much to ask for. Maybe Canon and or Red will come through soon.

After watching the official presentation on youtube, I have mixed feelings about SONY not taking this technology and putting it inside their own line of DSLR's. Given the move by many to VSLR fim making, you would think that this would be right up SONY's alley - and would give Canon a real run for their money in the market.

Why does this feel like another dropping the ball by SONY??? (Betamax -vs- VHS)

Some people don't want to shoot with a DSLR. I don't need a 2mm depth of field, thank you. Some people might also want XLR audio connectors. Sony has innovated far more often than they have "dropped the ball."

John - I see your POV on this.

XLR: Beachtek has an audio adapter (dxa5) that attaches to the underside of a DSLR that provides 2 XLR plugs

DOF: I would like to have the ability to either have narrow DOF, or stop the lens down and increase my DOF - or find something in between - with DSLR's, you have that option in a small form factor that is much easier to shoot with form factor wise - on traditional video cameras - you have to pay $$$$$ to get that.

Just saying....

A "small" form factor and a 35mm sensor and glass to match seems impossible for obvious reasons.
The industry benchmark camera for such is Sony's F35. Not exactly a "small" camera but if you want to shoot something that looks remotely "filmic" that's the state of play with the current technology.

I ran across this post on Sony's debut of it first pro AVCHD cam, part of the NXCAM family. I hope this bodes well for better AVCHD support in Vegas.

Well hopefully in the next few weeks, googling NXCAM won't result the porn site show up on the first page. Sony should organize a google bomb to make this happen.
