Angling the video

Is it possible in Vegas Movie Studio to create an angled look for video clips, like what was used for Nelly's latest video ," Over and Over"? I am trying to create an end credit screen with an angled video on the left side with the credits scrolling by on the right side, but I cant seem to find any direct option that allows it (course it took me 4 months to find the flip horizontal feature :( )

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but under the Video FX tab, there is an effect called Deform. Take a look at that.

Hope it helps...

Basically when I say angle, I want to give the video "depth" so that it looks like its retreating back away from the person watching it.

In Vegas, this is done with 3d track motion. Not sure if this feature exists in VMS.

The Deform FX is the closest Movie Studio can come to this effect. If used slightly it looks pretty good. However, unlike real 3D transformation, the image only shrinks in one dimension so if it is used to a greater extent the distortion becomes very apparent.

...or you can try with BluffTitler http://www.blufftitler.us/

Watched the video. I'm wondering if that can be done to full effect in Movie Studio.

What if you use pan and crop to "shrink" the video to a little less than half size vertically centered and horizonally positioned to the left Then you could use the deform effect to size the left and right edges to your desired proportions with the left edge being bigger than the right.

For the right half video pan and crop similaryly but positioned to the right and deform the right edge equal to the left half's left edge and the left edge equal to the left half's riight edge.

The assumption is the left and right half videos are stacked on separate tracks. The black areas should automatically be transparent. They should go together nicely if you panned your videos so that there would be a little left, right and center border.

Thoughts anyone?

Update: Just tried this and achieved the same effect as in the referenced video.

Never saw the video you're talking about, but try Deform->Squeeze Right (or left), change the setting on Right (or left) from 1.000 to about 0.500...
then Deform->Compress Horizontally, then you can rotate it (in "3D") by changing the "Amount" setting.

I think this is what you were talking about...if not, nevermind. :D
