Disable looping in Preferences:

Former user wrote on 1/23/2024, 5:42 AM

@Former user Hi, there's a right click option for disabling looping just that single event.

Former user wrote on 1/26/2024, 3:17 AM

Yeah, so the titles and text stops looping, and also disappears forever. Just flies-in and then *poof!*

This really sucks. Can it not just fly-in and stay? Why does the user not have control of this? When to make it stay or when to disappear? : - (

Jack S wrote on 1/26/2024, 4:23 AM

@Former user You can freeze the last frame then extend the title as far as you want.

You can open (and edit) those Title&Text templates with the Protype Titler in Vegas (only, so doesn't change the template for Title&Text).

@3POINT One problem. ProType Titler has a very steep learning curve. Freeze last frame is the easiest solution for the OP’s problem.

@Jack S My answer was to the question:

Why does the user not have control of this?

He does have control, that Protype Titler isn't easy to learn (it's also a deprecated feature) we probably all know.

Jack S wrote on 1/26/2024, 5:32 AM

@3POINT I agree. He does have complete control, if he's prepared to learn.

@Jack S How do I freeze the last frame?

I am looking to do a weekly project that has a lot of text. I do not want to spend a lot of time using an overkill tool for titles and text when something simpler ought to do. I have a lot of fancy title programs with Vegas, but they require a lot of work. I want easy, but decent looking. Maybe Magix Movie Pro can achieve this. Yes, if I need my text to do somersaults and Olympian athletics, you have a point, but simple slide in ought to be easy peasy...no?

Jack S wrote on 1/26/2024, 7:49 AM

@Former user Place your cursor at the last frame of the title. Click the three dots (next to the fx icon). Select Freeze Frame at Cursor. Drag the end of the title out as far as you want the title to remain.

For future reference, the Help system is a valuable source of information.

Perhaps @Former user you are lengthening the title event after adding it and configuring it. Lengthening it in the normal way invokes looping. Looping then happens at the original length of the event. The other way to lengthen is "stretching". That is done by ctrl-clicking the end of the title event and then dragging it. This changes the loop length as well as the event length, so it won't loop. It also stretches the timing of any keyframes already in the event.

Jack S wrote on 1/26/2024, 12:37 PM

@bvideo Stretching won’t do what the OP wants. It simply stretches the whole animation. He wants the animation to stop well before the event ends.

Okay, turning off loops and 'freeze frame' got me what I need. Thanks, a little more steps than what I thought it needed, but at least it's working. Thanks a bunch, guys.

Jack S wrote on 1/27/2024, 3:51 AM

@Former user When you freeze frame you don’t need to turn off looping. Because you’re freezing before the loop point the event never loops.

Looping of a text animation can only occur (when not disabled) when you extend beyond the default (10 sec) text event length. You can easily change that length by extending/shortening the event to the wished length and clicking the "Match event length" button:

Freezing the animation of the text at a given position has nothing to do with looping and is a different question.

When looping is disabled, extending an event beyond it's length automatically freezes the event, so no need to freeze frame manually.

Former user wrote on 1/27/2024, 4:50 AM

The "fly-in" animation dissolves the text, with free-frame I can grab the text at the state it needs to be. Too bad the text cannot fly in and stay...freeze frame is necessary.

In Protype Titler you can change that behaviour of the "fly-in" animation and save it as your own (Protype Titler) template. Unfortunately not as your own Title&Text "fly-in" template.

Former user wrote on 1/27/2024, 3:50 PM

I have access to NewBlue Titler Pro, Continuum Title Studio and Vegasaur titles & text. What I am looking for is fast. I have a lot of fields to fill out. i.e. Artist, Album title, label, catalog, etc.. Whatever can allow me to rapidly input fields and throw it up on screen to look somewhat decent.

FayFen wrote on 1/28/2024, 12:42 AM

Just to add my 2c to Protype , this is where the collections are. It's not that "steep" to modify as you can see the key frames.

Jack S wrote on 1/28/2024, 4:59 AM

@FayFen "steep" is a relative term. For some people the learning curve is shallower than others. You and I are used to ProType Titler, but to someone who hasn't used it, it can be daunting. The OP has said that he has access to Title Studio and Titler Pro so he should be able to get what he wants with either of those. Both have a wealth of animated title presets.

Are you setting the event length in the Titles & Text Dialog? There's a little icon near the top, it resembles a house with a blue face. That sets the animation to the event length, and they typewriter style text will adjust to fit the event lenght, no looping.
