Animating a series of .PNG files

Any ideas how to import a series of .PNG files into vegas and convert the series into an animated clip? I am using particleIllusion SE and the only way to export an Alpha Channel is to export as a series of TIFF or PNG images, then re-assemble as a video.

I have tried setting the "import new images" duration setting in Vegas to 1 frame (at 29.97). This seems to work but there are random time gaps after importing the series that I have to close by dragging manually.

All ideas appreciated.

When you use Import Media, go to the folder containing the images, select the first one, then check the box that says something like:

Open Still Image Sequence

That's it. It will import as a series of frames of the proper length.

Make sure all the images are sequentially numbered and in the same folder.
When you go to import them, click the first one and then click the "open still image sequence" box at the bottom of the import box.
You'll see the import range specified.
In the box that comes up, set any options as desired and click OK.
What shows up in the Media tab is a single file (with all the images set to 1 frame each) ready to be dropped on the timeline.
I've used this method to import files from 3D animation programs such as Maya & Lightwave.
