Animattes: content installation

Himanshu wrote on 1/20/2008, 11:45 AM
When I purchased the upgrade to SVMS8 PE, among the advertised features were "20 Animattes video compositing mattes by FreedomFX™, the 1,001 sound effects collection, and 20 music beds."

I was trying to find this content today and I could not -- try searching for Animattes and you will come up empty. So I went to the software DVD and found them under the "Content" directory which doesn't seem to have been installed by default.

Did I miss an installation option, or does Sony expect customers to copy these folders to their hard drive themselves?

[Question about tutorial deleted - somehow I was blind to the Mask Generation TrackFX, but found it once I looked about a dozen times - tutorial works as described].

These are instructions I made for myself when I finally got it to work maybe it will help:

*1. Top video track (motion frame) properties:

Parent track (arrow down)

Alpha Channel, undefined.

Event FX: Mask generator, set to luminance, invert.

Compositing mode: Multiply (mask)

2. Middle video track (main video) properties:

Child track (arrow up)

Compositing mode: Source Alpha

3. Bottom video track (motion background) properties:

Parent track (arrow down)

Compositing mode: Source Alpha

Thanks for posting your notes, menopausal. I kept looking for "mask generator" and for some reason I did not see "Sony Mask Generator" even though it was in the list all the time...once I found it, everything worked.

Glad I stumbled - it made me look through several options, help, etc. I think I learned more than if it worked the first time :D

When I was stuck with the tutorial, I had also emailed FreedomFX, and Shawn B was kind enough to update the web page for the tutorial with an entry specific to SVMS Platinum Edition.

This may be just me, but I find it much more helpful to look at the fx menu in the lower left corner rather than clicking and getting a list, which tells me nothing visually. Then when I have found what I think I want, I just drag and drop, either to the timeline or to the track box.

This has helped me a lot.
