Annoying MPEG-2 Issue

Right now this is annoying rather than a completely serious issue, but if there is a solution or I direction I should be looking into, I would love to hear it.

My miniDV (tape) camera broke and I have replaced it with a camera that records onto SDHC cards in MPEG-2. (Which is another topic--what do people replace miniDV cameras with instead of something that records into MPEG-2?)

Anyway, when I bring the MPEG-2 files (which are really .MOD) files into Vegas Movie Studio 9, I get frames here and there that are badly pixelated, and it's fairly often.

When I play the same files on the camera itself, with the software that came with the camera, or even with Nero Vision Express 3 (c.2005), they play just fine! But, VMS has an issue!

I can't use Nero or the camera's software to export the files into something else (very basic software), so I can't create a new file that VMS can use, so the only work around I have found so far is to remove the frames here and there that are pixelated. It works if only a few frames are messed up here and there, but it's extremely tedious, since this happens about 5 or 6 times per minute at least.

Is there another solution I should be looking for or another way to do this?

P.S. I had a similar issue (but worse) regarding .mp4 files: VMS would insert green frames quite often, but Nero played them just fine.

P.P.S. Using Nero and the camera's software is not an option--I need to use VMS since it's the only editor of the three. The other two applications only allow "trim, title, & burn", rather than any actual editing.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry I can't answer your primary question but as for the above I replace with miniDV - tape doesn't bother me - I'm not in a big hurry.

As I recently learned after having a very similar problem, render a small clip that has some pixelated frames in it, and see if they are there in the final render. Let us know. Cin

Yep, the junk appears in the final render, also. Even onto a DVD when burned.

(The other idea I had was to install VMS onto another computer and see if the same exact files have the same exact problems, but I haven't had time yet and may never get that chance.)
