Another Bézier Mask Question

MUTTLEY wrote on 1/22/2005, 3:12 PM

Who is this guy Bézier anyway ?

So I'm trying to do multiple masks on a section of vid. The first one works, the second and third don't. They are closed and all the settings seem right.

For simplification, say there are two boxes in a cilp on opposite sides of the frame and you want to mask both. In step 6 of the help files all it says is " Repeat steps 3 through 5 as necessary if you want to create multiple Bézier masks. " Whelp, don't seem to be working here.

Any insight out there ?

First of all Bezier was the very first Zorro, but got fired on the set the first day , or maybe he was the French Lone Ranger, anyway the guy that designed the tool was a big fan of the series.........

What are you using Mutt the positive or negative mask? If i use neg with a vid track below I can "cut out as many Bezzy's as I want,or at least I did 4 anyway.

...

Well thanks for the history, though I can't say I'm any more fond of the Bézier.

Using 'Positive', as in the example I want the boxes to show.

lol, well don't I feel like a putz ?

So here's the deal. What I had done initially, and forgot to undo before messing with the Béziers, was to crop the clip it using " Position ". This wasn't enough to do what I needed it to do so I moved on to Béziers but never set the position back.

But at least now I have more info about Bézier than ever before, thanks guys. =P

Gary's link is this

Pierre Bézier of France

Born: Paris, 1910
Died: 1999

Pierre Bézier worked as an engineer for the Renault car company. In the late 1960s he conceived a new curve formulation to represent 3D car body forms on computers.

Bézier curves, in their two-dimensional form, are now the basis of almost all common graphics programs (such as Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw), following their adoption as the standard curve of the PostScript language. Most outline fonts, including TrueType and PostScript Type 1 (but not Ikarus) are stored as Bézier curves.

Brilliant but simple - seems to be based on tangents, with curve reshaping by making bezier handles longer/shorter.

Any maths experts who can elaborate?

epirb: how about sharing those veg files? I've had a similar problem but never had the time to sort it out.
