35mm adapters don't change the color rendition much.

Use Magic Bullet Looks (or better yet, MB Suite 2007). Their site has a video example that shows everything quickly.

The latest version even has a feature to add blur to make parts of the frame look out of focus.

The color control is second to none in MB, and ease of use is just great.

(The blur is not a true lens blur in the current version, so it doesn't meet my standards for that.)

MB Looks can run standalone, and there is a rumor that they will add Vegas support also.

An older limited version has been shipping with Vegas for some time.

I have Magic Bullet now, and I knew of its Curahee template, but I was thinking of something that didn't require it, because it's really slow to render (I don't have the accelerated version).

So, using it and color correcting it, I was able to come up with this:
