Another external monitor question

Hi folks,
It seems to me that having to use a firewire out to a cam to a monitor is not the most elegant manner in which to use an NTSC monitor.....I have an svideo out port on my video card....any chance that could be utilized to view footage on a monitor....I suppose if that was not viable, some sort of digital to analog video switcher might be used....
firewire to switcher to monitor....or vcr.....Any comments, suggestons...

One thing that people keep missing with this continual discussion is that the TV output on video cards usually isn't up to NTSC spec. It's usually good enough to get a display for your computer onto a television and that's it. As such, it probably doesn't accurately represent what your finished video will look like on a television.

Using firewire out through an external converter is the method used when printing to tape, so this does accurately represent the finished view. This is why Vegas uses this method, so that you may see as accurate a representation as possible.
