Another M-Audio LX4 review

In case any of your are interested, ExtremeTech.com recently posted a review of the M-Audio Studiophile LX4 5.1 speaker system. After reading the review I'm not sure they should be branching out from the computer reviews. Their descriptions are a not as specific as I would have expected, but it's still interesting to read.

There are two other threads related to this article here...but to comment, I agree with you.
They shouldn't be reviewing semi-professional gear. That's simply nuts. I might as well write reviews on children's toy laptops that you buy at Walmart for 9.99...
Silly, ill-informed. Duh..what professional speaker system anywhere puts the Xover on the front "where you can reach it?" And what professional speaker system for studio monitoring has a volume control on the front where you can reach it? And what professional system has a headphone jack? Duh....they REALLY need to branch out in their self-education.
The LX4's and satellite kit is WONDERFUL for the guy that isn't loaded with $$, and doesn't have a big room, and doesn't need THX certified monitors. We use them on some of the VASST tours. We'll be using them in Chicago this week....

Sorry but I have to disagree with both of you. The reviewer did consistently say that 'yadda yadda yadda ... is the norm on studio monitors' and he did say they were fine studio monitors. His negative remarks only related to using them as general purpose loudspeakers, not as studio monitors.
Perhaps the fault really lies with M-Audio for targeting the wrong market?

The M-Audio website lists these monitors under Pro, rather than Consumer equipment, so maybe any confusion over target markets is in the mind of the reviewer?
