I just found another one of those bugs in Vegas that makes me want to crack the Vegas CD in half and throw it out the window.
In Vegas 8.1, editing AVCHD, the project set at 1920x1080 60i, same as the footage. Because parts of the footage don't play at 29.97 fps as they are, I do a pre-render to see it at full speed.
I just found out that doing a pre-render to any format using any module that is 1920x1080 60i will not pre-render unless it has to render some effect, or unless the render module is set to a different size. The latter, however, carries the bug I already mentioned in a previous post, that if you use a pre-render module with a size different than that of the project, it will change the project properties (without warning) to the size specified in the pre-render module. So if the module is a720p for example, your project will be 720p as soon as you use that module.
Not only this is all very pathetic, but confirms once again my assessment that Sony Creative doesn't test their software before releasing it. This is not acceptable for even a beta. And it doesn't end there. Let me tell you about the workaround for this ugly bug:
Apply a filter to the whole track, pre-render it and it does render. Remove the filter, now select a loop and pre-render it. Now it works as it should.
Seriously, how can they release alpha software as a gold release, I just don't get it.
