What format is the .avi file? The only files that you can send back to the camcorder are DV files (either NTSC or PAL depending on where you are). If you have used any other template to render the file, or changed anything in the DV template, then your file won't be compatible with the camera.

Dear Chienworks,

I must be doing something wrong then. I will list what I am doing:

- I have produced the movie in .avi format
- I then am going to the "make movie"
- I type in "XXX.avi" in the file path section
- Then in the template section I type in NTSC DV.

It seems that what I need to do is transfer the .avi format to an NTSC format so that my Sony handycam can read it. Can you help me do this?

Thanks for your help!

Are you actually typing in NTSC DV? Or are you just selecting it from the list of choices that are already there? If you're typing it in, you're probably creating a new template that may not be DV compatible.

I am selecting it from the drop down list.

OK. Now, when you print to tape, are you making sure that the video device selected under the Video menu tab is "Microsoft Digital Camera or VCR" (or something like that)? It might be set to any analog video device you have installed instead.

I checked the video tab and no device is optioned. I have selected "video S video" as I have a "purple all in wonder" linked between my camera and my PC. I know for sure that my camera and my PC are connected, since I can see my camera info detailed in the PC window screen under preview. Any other ideas?
