Doing this would allow us to render one AVCHD version of a project and create both both HD DVD and Bluray compatible discs. It would be way cool!
That's what I was thinking... both formats read avchd from red laser disks. If you could create a avchd disk that could be read by both machines, then it wouldn't matter what format you went with.
Well the formatting and placement of the AVCHD data will still be different. I was thinking mostly in terms of render time and consistency between versions.

Heck, Blink, you're just going to have to try harder! I got MASSIVELY banned from the Pinnacle forums back when I discovered a nasty flaw in their DV codec. I was pretty vocal about it...
