Any HD-DVD or Blu-Ray Updates?

Its been very quiet on this front for a while, but earlier this year there was talk of commerically available hollywood titles and home standalone players and PC burners coming by xmas 2005.

Does anyone have an update? Specifically, I would like to know how much a PC burner and the blank media are going to cost at the outset. I am very eager to take my production to the new format as soon as the public can get access to the hardware.
thx.

Last I heard Sony was talking with the HD-DVD people to come up with some kind of compromise. Actually kind of freaked me out, the big guy's bypassing their egos to make a compromise. But then again maybe Sony will buy them all out.

The first blu-ray recorder has been available in Japan for over 2 years. I'd say it would be at least 12 months minimum before you see a internal burner.

The public has to have the hardware first, as you mentioned. Besides us, the video producers, I don't see the public's interest yet.

There's an interesting article titled DVD Insider: Singing the Blu's. It doesn't sound like it'll be here any time soon :-(
BTW, according to the Blu-ray folks, there are no drives for PCs yet :-(
