Any plans for ReWire2 audio-only support?

I would like to see ReWire support for just audio and not midi. ReWire audio support in Vegas seems like it was meant to happen. As it appears with Reason and Cakewalk's recently announced Project5, ReWire without midi would be a great addition to Vegas. The only reason I say without midi, is because I wouldn't want to see that happen to Vegas personally and also it's just not necessary. This would be similar to Ableton Live's Rewire implementation, which is also audio only, but with the added benefit of Vegas.

ReWire slaves seem to be evolving greatly these days and I think that the right implementation in Vegas would spark a lot of serious interest from many. Even Pro Tools announced that they will support ReWire. It's surprisingto see Digidesign adopt such standards wouldn't you agree?

So what do you think?

I'm pretty sure SF is working on it, we've all been asking for ReWire for long enough! I just hope it gets introduced in a Revision of Vegas 4 and ACID 4, and that we don't have to wait for version 5!

They've mentioned that it's their favourite idea for hooking up the functionality of ACID and Vegas, and that the technology is relatively simple, it's the interface that takes time.

This may have been mentioned on the ACID forum, I can't remember...
