any problems with UAD-1?

is there any problems wit UAD-1 these days? Are the previous problems you find using it with Vegas resolved? Are the delays compensated all the way (real-time and rendered..)? Can i use finally all the 100% of the DSP or the old 7x-8x% problem still exists? Please help me to decide to buy it or still not. Vegas will be is the main host for the UAD-1.

thanks:

There are a few problems.

Hitting mute or solo when the UAD-1 is in a project can cause infuriating freeses and crashes, and even corrupt the *.veg file when it does

Some chain orders do not work in all cases, for instance, putting LA-2A on a track, and then sending that track to the "realverb (hahahahaha)" from an assignable effect will get you a buffer error.

They still dont have true direct x fx, but rather are going thru a VST wrapper, with all the known bugs of that situation.

There is still noticeable latency in some of the plugs.

Email UAD and let them know that these issues matter to you. Apparently not enough people use vegas for them to make the fixes

Pipe and I have had conversations about this and I have done testing trying to recreate his problems and I can't.

I have 2 UAD-1 cards and they're completely solid. There is still some minor CPU munching issues, but they impact things minimally. I have no latency issues (I mix in the box). Also the DirectX compatibility is completely transparent to me and I haven't had any bugs.

So I'm pretty much polar opposite in my experience to Pipe. These cards sound absolutely amazing and I don't know what I would do without them at this point. I've used lots of the plugins in Acid/Vegas/SF with no problems.

Strong buy from my view.

bgc, if you duplicate a track and put the pultec on one and nothing on the other do you not get extreme latency between the two?

hey pipeline,
i'll do a check tonight and post back at ya.

hi pipeline,
I just did a test with the Pultec pro on one track and nothing on the other.
No delay issues at all. Sounded great and rendered fine.
I'm using the Card Deluxe with ASIO on.

Unfortunately it's another example of the UAD raining on your parade and sun-shiney on mine. Sorry for all your troubles.

Card Deluxe -- is a solid no frills Card -- I love these cards -- sounds so bright and clean, I just cant believe it. Also they are made here in the USA, with tech support that answers you voice to voice.

-- Got to love it --

The Card Deluxes are amazing. Drivers are a little squirrelly now and then, but they sound fantastic.
We were looking for the best A/D and D/A performance and put EVERYTHING to the test using an AP test rig to get system specs.
The Card D even beat out everything (even the Apogee stuff).
