Any quality problems if I 'shrink' video?

Using V5. Shot project on my DVX-100a, using 16:9 (mask, not squeeze). I know that, due to normal TV overscan, I get a portion of the frame whacked (left and right).

What I'm considering doing is using Track Motion to shrink the size of the video frame. From testing with my TV at home, it looks like shrinking (not cropping) to 630x420 gives me the full frame. I like this better, since I get the full aspect ratio of the original 16:9 frame.

So, my question is: Does shrinking my video in this fashion compromise the quality of what will be displayed?

Thanks!
David

Yes.

Any operation that requires re-rendering will affect quality. When you resize, you will affect the quality even greated because of the resampling and compromising that has to be done.

How bad it affects it though, only you can judge.
