Not having used the studio version since VideoFactory 2 ... i'm not up on what's in them anymore. You can look at the feature chart here ... [link http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/Products/showproduct.asp?PID=977&FeatureID=8357] and see what's included in Platinum 7.

I seem to recall that most of the improvements in 7 were centered around HDV, so if that's not important to you then you may not see much benefit. On the other hand, you may see a thing or two that really strikes you.

I'd say the biggest real advantage of the Platinum version is the ability in render, import, and burn AC-3 audio. AC-3 is a lossy compression scheme that is encoded at 192 kbps instead of 1536 kbps for PCM audio, the only audio track available in version 6. This frees up much more disc space for your video, allowing you a higher video bit rate, and, therefore, better picture quality.

The Sony Color Corrector event plug-in is available only in the Platinum Edition and gives you some basic color and gamma correction tools making it well worth the price delta.
