In PowerPoint, save as JPEG files or as PNG (portable network graphics) will create an image of each slide. You can then place the images on the timeline and manipulate them anyway you like. You may need to reconstruct embeded sound and video files. I don't know how this technique will handle builds where you add information to a slide in steps.
I have used this with a simple presentation very sucessfully.
EDIT: I have also used a scan converter. I record presentations live with a small video mixer and feed the scan converter into one input, so I can switch between the presenter(s) and the PowerPoint images.
ATI 8500DV ( or similar card) to miniDV tape. Tape to Vegas. We do several of these a month this way and, if the PP presentation has been saved to CD using the "Pack and Go" feature, transitions, music and video clips will transfer across from the computer to tape.
Thanks for those threads John.
Lots of good information there.
Need to learn to balance searches with starting threads.
Often I overlook the search strategy.
Of course we wouldn't want to expect community members to rely on searches only.
This thread turned up Camtasia which may be our solution.
Going to check that out.
