Any talk of an upgrade to Studio - (downgrading)

Hi -
I started in the Studio world and loved it. Progressed into the Vegas world - mainly because I need more tracks - and have been there for a while. Now deciding about the upgrade to Vegas Pro 9 - and wondering if I would be better off with Vegas Studio. (I want what works for me) - evne though the Studio series is already up to 9 are there any thoughts in terms of Studio inheriting any of the improvements the 9 is getting?

Also - in a word how is studio with handling AVCHD files - will it be as slow as Vegas is with are older dual core processor?

Thanks
Allen

VMS9 is actually built on Vegas 8 Full, as far as I know, so if you have Vegas 8 Full, stick with it for a bit longer. VMS9 certainly will NOT handle avchd files better.

I don't have a dual core to compare with - but I am a Vegas pro user who is currently purchasing every other version (odd's, so I have 7 & have pre-ordered 9 pro)

I have VMS 9 Platinum - purchased it because it handled AVCHD acceptably on my previous computer - HT 3.0 Ghz.. How could I pass up $30 for it (two rebates) and came with sound effects, New Blue effects, and Audio studio.
I already had a competing NLE product which supports AVCHD - but it was absolutely unbearable on that old 3.0Ghz Hyper threader.

I am currently using VMS9 to handle AVCHD (Canon) on my present system (quad) (while I wait for 9 pro). AVCHD in VMS9 is less responsive on my quad when compared with avi and mpeg - but quite usable.

If you are using 8 - you won't likely get any benefit from VMS9 - but you may want to Download the VMS9 trial and then you would know if it provides any benefit for you.

For historical reasons I use both Full Vegas 8.0c and VMSP 9.0b Plat Pro. In the last months I have seen my work migrate from 20/80 percent Full/Studio to now 100/0 percent Full/Studio.

My input is only AVCHD and Stills - and both do work well (if you fiddle a little in the "internals").

And I have found that many features -i.e. the scripting and many other things - in the Full Vegas gives so many benefits.

Plus also all the plugins and add-on's you can get for free or buy - and where many of them only work with the Full Vegas.

I have preordered Full 9 :-)

I think VMS9 came out last July. If I recall V8 came out in August 2007. So I suspect we'll see V10 before the end of the summer, but I suppose they could delay it a bit due to the economy.

I think you need to be more specific .. when you say V8 and V10 I can ony assume you mean to say Vegas (Pro) 8 and Vegas (Pro) 10, because you used VMS9 to say "Vegas Movie Studio"

Vegas Pro 9 *just* came out (will come out shortly) so why whould Vegas Pro 10 be out by "the end of the summer"?

I'd be pretty sure he is talking about Versions 8 and 10 of VMS.

Yes, I am. All dates are for VMS.
