Background:
We use Vegas 9d for a lot of live musical productions, and we separately record external microphones on several iRiver ifp790 *.MP3 recorders and Zoom H4 *.wav recorders. A typical setup may have as many as five iRivers and two Zooms. (Note that we very seldom use camera audio tracks unless driven by external microphones.) After preconditioning each of the tracks using SoundForge, they're stacked under the video tracks, synchronized, then cut away if not needed for an event (for example, if there is no soloist, that sound track isn't needed, but the next item on the program might be a different story).
It would be a wonderful time-saver if, when we split a track, an automatic 1.00 second fade-out and fade-in were part of the package. That would allow us to synchronize the tracks then synchronize the cutaways.
For example:
Program item 1 uses microphones 1, 4, and 7.
Then there's applause, recorded using microphones 1 and 2.
Program item 2 uses a soloist and microphones 1, 4, 5 and 7.
[i]etc.[i/]
In post production we would split all audio tracks at the conclusion of each program item, applause, [i]etc.[i/] Then we'd delete those microphones not required for an item and overlap the audio tracks using the fades. That's the reason for the query.
Any ideas?
