any way to do a fluid long horizontal credit roll?

Mindmatter wrote on 3/14/2019, 2:08 PM

Hi all,

the title basically says it all. I need a simple, limitless horizontal scroll, not like the timed fragmented one in Vegas titler. Possibly uninterrupted, with no character limit within one phrase. is there a way to do that or will I have to resort to photoshop? I also have NB titler pro 6 but I cannot seem to find any preset without flashy gimmicks.

Thanks!

ProType Titler will do this ..how smooth might depend on how fast and how long ..

You mean a crawl? Both "(Legacy) Text" as well as "ProType Titler" should be fine. Preview speed may suffer dependend on the text length (because it will enlarge the horizontal size to be rendered) but once rendered/exported it should play fine.

Thanks xberk and Marco, I haven't used it for ages as it used to be somewhat buggy, I just had a new look at it, and It might just do fine, I'll need some practise tho.

Here is one way to make a title scroll with legacy text

Marco. wrote on 3/14/2019, 4:25 PM

The sample video below is made by using the "(Legacy) Text" tool, too. The animation is made by keyframing the text tool's placement x value (so no need for Pan/Crop, Track Motion or any additional tool).

What you see is just a small fraction of 8 seconds out of the whole animation. The crawl is based on 6000 characters all in one line which needs 4 minutes to go through from right to left. If you'd made this text line in a graphic software, even with this small font size and aimed to be used for 1280x720 framing, your graphic file must be larger than 50000 x 720 pixels.

If you view this sample video via a 60 Hz display it should playback smoothly. The key is the viewer's display refresh rate and the animation and render frame rate must match.

Edit:
I just saw the forum software will transcode the 60 fps source to 30 fps so the smooth playback will suffer a bit from that.
