I'll probably feel really dumb when you tell me, but how do you do this with pan/cop?

I can flip the video upside down with that, but not make it mirror image from right to left.

Right click on the pan crop marquee, select flip horizontal or vertical.

Thanks Nat and DJPadre, that worked beautifully!

Again, I learn something new here everyday...

It took me half-a-minute to figure out where it was you meant to click Nat, if you would have said "right click on the F" I would have figured it out a second quicker. (for anyone else who may not find it)

:)

Thanks!

Just curious, and i certainly don't want to embarass ... by how is it you figured out how to flip vertically and not horizontally? ;)

If you enter a value in the Rotation box (first obvious choice??), it'll only do a vertical rotation. That's my guess anyway.

I don't embarass that easily...

But when you go to the pan/crop "F window", if you grab a small square in a corner and drag it all the way down to the smallest it can get, if you keep going, it flips it vertically.

(and I've known how to do that)

So anyway, never did it by right-clicking on the "F" though, so now I know.

True! And did you know that if you drag a small corner square across the screen it flips horizontally? :)

Well... I didn't know that.. and.. I'm trying it now and can't get that to happen..

When I drag any of the eight corner squares it just flips it vertically.

Of course, if you really want to mirror, use the Vegas Mirror fX. Start with the "Reflect Left" preset. You get real mirror images. You can put a frame around the mirrored (reflected image) or not.

If you want to see a nifty use of this fX (he said with absolutely no modesty), then download this WMV of something I did three years ago, when I was still actually doing creative stuff. It's high school division 4 volleyball, but three of the girls went on to play at division 1 colleges. Lots of fun to put together the highlights, and I had to create my own media manager to help me sort, preview and access the highlight clips.

Volleyball Video

The mirror effect starts at the 0:50 second mark.

John, very nicely done... fun to watch all the way through. What camera did you shoot with?

Sony TRV-11, my original DV camera from years ago. All hand-held.
