I must say... I've played around with 8.1 for a while now and I'm NOT seeing any huge performance increases in time line operations. I figured on some much smoother preview playback at better frame rates and although there is an increase.... it's pretty marginal.
There is certainly more room to maneuver with regard to Dynamic Ram.... alot more memory showing so you can load bigger chunks into Ram but alas... that's the only big advantage I can see so far. I have yet to do any serious rendering but then I was not all that unhappy with 8b's rendering performance in the first place.
