anybody seen this?

I have a rather strange ting happening to me.
I have composed a lengthy video with many clips.
I have burnt some test videos over the past few days and all seemed fine..... until 2 nights ago when I noticed a clip that did not belong there? Went back deleted the wrong clip, inserted the one that supposed to be there (only about a 5 second clip), saved the project and continued....
only to find out that on my next render I noticed that same clip to be in the same wrong spot???? what gives?
make a long story short, each time I replace this clip with the correct one, save the project, reload the project (all in V9.0b).
Vegas replaces it with this incorrect clip. Did this 4 times before I gave up.....
When I check the properties of the clip, they are from the incorrect one. Anybody got any ideas why this is happening.

Hi,

This IS very far-fecthed, but once I had a similar problem with VP8. The problem was caused by non-ASCII letters in the filenames (such as scandinavian letters ä ö å). They run havok the internal sorting of the clips. Some clips were wrong ones, some disappeared after a post edit ripple function. Some clips showed NEGATIVE usage numbers in the project media list. Since then I never have used other than ASCII chars in filenames. Therefore I have no clue if this "anomality" ever was fixed...

As I said - far feched - but just as a hint. And since no-one else have yet replied...

Cheers,

Christian

What type of clip is it? I've had this sort of problem with Vegas 9 and Quicktime .mov clips, except that in my case, Vegas didn't find a replacement file and made me search for the clips each time I opened the project. Only in Vegas 9 with this particular problem. Vegas 8 had no problem (after importing from an EDL and resaving).

I don't know why you have that problem or if the following works, but you can give it a try:

After you delete the clip from the timeline, also delete it from the "Project Media" tab. This should eliminate all references to the incorrect clip. Save the project and close Vegas. Start Vegas again and check what is happening (did it reappear on the timeline or Project Media tab). Now add your correct video clip.

Thanks guys for the tips. I will have to try them later on.
I do not think the names of the files are the problem, but will check.
The clips are of the same type they are both HDV clips.
THe one I want is called clip 41
The one Vegas keeps inserting is clip 5

I was a bit tired last night when I looked at the problem some more, but gave up.
I will do some more checking and report back my results.

Did you ever figure out what the problem was or how to fix it? I'm having the same issue and it's getting rather annoying!

I have not really been able to figure out the problem here. As I was at the end of the edit I rendered by replacing the clip before saving, and the final render was OK. Then went on to another project.
