anyone else haveing problems printing to tape?

I get grey blocks and a shaky image when I try to print to
tape - I thought I had this worked out some months ago but
i have since installed directx 8 - is this the culprit or
is it something else?

anyone?

latest drivers for via etc

Via chipsets can be troublesome with 1394- lots of software
companies have reported this. Here's a starting place for

not a dx8 problem - maybe a chipset problem - definitely a
USB problem

after diableing my USB cable modem the thing works fine

I get this same behavior and I have an Intel motherboard. I haven't tried disabling the USB yet, but that seems like a lot of effort to go to to print to tape. I'm about to build a new computer. Any suggestions for motherboards/chipsets that work well?
